- The Gaiwan (Mandarin for covered cup, "zhong" or “cha chung" in Cantonese) has been used in China since about 1350. It consists of saucer, bowl, and lid which are designed to be used together.
- This Gaiwan Set is exquisitely hand-crafted with a "Doucai" technique - a traditional method that involves an underglaze with other colors added as an overglaze.
- Crafted using the underglaze Doucai porcelain technique, the Gaiwan Set showcase a beautiful and dynamic flow of colors, including vibrant yellow, pink, soft green, and deep blue. These hues pay tribute to the Taihu rocks and flowers, adding romance and elegance to this artistic masterpiece.
- Gaiwan Set - Nature Ash Glaze refers to the process of firing ceramics without saggar or glaze, and the exposed ceramic body is fired in a wood-fired kiln. The vitreous glaze layer and texture formed on the surface of the green body due to the direct contact between the open fire, the grass, and the soot, and the green body is the natural ash glaze.
- The wide rim of the Gaiwan body ensures a comfortable and secure grip, while its larger size makes it ideal for brewing all types of tea. This unique Gaiwan set not only enhances your tea ritual with its artistic beauty but also represents a lasting investment in craftsmanship and elegance for years to come.

How should I use Gaiwan?
First place the tea in the bottom of the Hand-painted Flower Gaiwan.
Pour in enough boiling water to come just under halfway up the cup and immediately drain off by holding the cup and saucer together and using the lid as a strainer to hold back the leaves. Now uncover the leaves and inhale the aroma from the "rinsed" leaves.
Next, pour fresh boiling water into the Gaiwan, not directly on to the leaves but down the inside of the cup to set the leaves swirling in the bottom, then drink or pour it to fair cup to make it cooler.
