  • What are Snowflakes?

Just like the seasons of spring, summer, autumn, and winter, Dan Cong tea also follows a seasonal picking cycle. Among these, Snowduck Snowflakes Dan Cong is a term used for the tea harvested during the last picking season of the year – the winter harvest. This special tea is also known as Snowduck, referring to the Phoenix single bush tea picked during the coldest time of the year. It’s the rarest and most prized harvest, celebrated for its intense aroma that lingers long after the tea is brewed.

The Dan Cong tea picking schedule can be divided into five categories: First Spring, Second Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Snowflakes (or 5 Snow). Snowflakes tea represents the fifth and final harvest of the year, making it a unique and highly sought-after variety.

  • Brewing Instructions:

    • Water Temperature: For optimal flavor, use mountain spring water or stream water heated to 100°C (212°F).
    • Tea-to-Water Ratio: Generally, use 1 gram of tea per 10–15 milliliters of water.
    • Brewing Time: Dan Cong tea is known for its resilience and can withstand multiple infusions. Start by steeping for about 10 seconds for the first three brews. Afterward, you can gradually increase the brewing time.
  • The Environment of Wudong Mountain: Nestled at an altitude of 1,391 meters, Wudong Mountain is a place of mist and clouds, receiving diffused sunlight and experiencing significant temperature fluctuations between day and night. This environment is perfect for the growth of high-quality tea trees. The soil is rich in humus, loose, and well-structured—ideal for nurturing the tender leaves and buds that give this tea its exceptional aroma and flavor.

The cool temperatures, ample moisture, and short hours of sunlight allow the tea leaves to develop slowly, making them more tender and flavorful. The soil, composed of coarse-grained granite and yellow loam rich in organic material, further enhances the tea’s unique taste and mountain charm.

  • Flavor Profile: The dry leaves of Snowduck Snowflakes Dan Cong release an elegant fragrance reminiscent of orchids, with notes of osmanthus, jasmine, and a subtle hint of roasted nuts. There's also a creamy sweetness that adds warmth and depth to the aroma, making it feel rich and inviting.
  • When you pour hot water over the leaves, the fragrance fills the air, lingering even up to eight steps away. The tea liquor is clear, golden, and beautifully aromatic, offering a sweet and fragrant taste. It’s a bit like the scent of honeysuckle in full bloom—fresh, floral, and captivating.
  • The taste of Snowduck Snowflakes Dan Cong is pure and crisp, with a slight cooling sensation that enhances its unique character. Its clarity and depth leave a lingering, almost meditative, aftertaste that will keep you coming back for more.
